He represents employers, insurance carriers, self-insured entities, businesses, and individuals in matters ranging from claims management and risk assessment to litigation, appeals, and negotiated resolutions. He also advises clients on regulatory compliance, commercial leasing issues, contractual disputes, and other business-related matters.
Mr. Johnston draws on a unique combination of litigation, insurance, and regulatory experience to develop practical solutions for his clients. Prior to entering private practice, he spent more than a decade with the United States Court of International Trade, where he worked closely with federal judges, attorneys, government officials, and trade professionals on educational and professional development initiatives involving customs law, international trade, and federal court practice.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Johnston worked as a licensed property and casualty insurance agent, where he advised businesses and individuals on risk management and insurance coverage. This experience provides him with valuable insight into the operational and business concerns of insurers, employers, and commercial clients, allowing him to approach legal challenges with both an advocate's and a business advisor's perspective.
